Jonathan and I have been working on re-doing an old wooden desk we got off Craigslist (post soon to come!), and I knew I wanted some sort of pinboard to hang above it. On a recent trip to Goodwill I spied this little beauty for only $0.95! So I snatched it up at barely a glance with plans to give it a new coat of paint, and call it a day. Once I had it home I realized it had burlap covering the corkboard... and in my opinion nothing goes better with burlap than lace :) So I headed off to Joann's with a 15% off coupon where I found some lace that had a large, spaced-out design because I wanted the burlap to be able to show through. I also bought my silver tacks there as well.
Although I love blue and yellow, this was not quite the look I was going for!
I started off by roughly covering the frame in some white paint to act as a primer for that bright blue color.
Once that had dried I gave it about 3 thin coats of craft paint in French Blue.
Then I popped the frame away from the board, measured and cut my lace with about a 1" overhang and wrapped it around the corkboard.
I stapled the lace into place on the back of the board and popped it back into the frame.
I love the sweet touch the lace adds to the rustic burlap...now if we could just finish that desk so I can finally hang up my new pinboard!
